Each month BYP will host a luncheon designed to connect its members and provide opportunities to learn about upcoming events and happenings in the Boise area. These events are a great way to meet other local young professionals, have a great meal, and learn about what’s happening with BYP!

September 13 - BYP Wine Tour

Date: September 13, 2008
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Meeting Location: E 44th St. Garden City, ID 83714. Off of Chinden just west of Veterans Memorial Parkway. Look for Coby's Sandwich shop, it's right behind it.
Cost: $35 BYP Members / $45 Non BYP Members (Includes your transportation, tasting fees, and a wine glass.)
Seating Capacity: This is an event with limited seating. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Come join your fellow yp's for the second annual tour of 5 local wineries on Saturday September 13th. We'll meet at Cinder & Syringa's Winery (107 E 44th St. behind Cobby's) in Garden City at 10am and board a bus to head out to wine country along the Snake River. We'll meet the vintners, get a tour, and do tasting at each winery. The bus will be back in Garden City around 5:00 for the final tour which should last until 6:00. Pack a lunch and some water and please drink responsibly.

b|wise is a six-month structured mentoring experience that matches 10-12 young professionals with a “seasoned executive” for monthly meetings on leadership and personal development. New groups are being formed now (see below for instructions) and facilitator choice is first-come, first served.


Each participant will meet with their group and facilitator at a kick-off event on September 19, 2008:

• Your group will identify leadership topics of interest to discuss over 6 months.

• You’ll attend at least one 1-2 hour session per month (see facilitator profile for details).

• Your facilitator may recommend reading or activities outside of monthly
session.

• Maximum capacity for the program is 100 participants.

“Lounging Series” events provide a question/answer forum, giving young professionals exposure to decision makers and community leaders. These events are held at a swanky, hip and trendy location in downtown Boise and provide a great atmosphere for networking with local young professionals and learning from influential leaders in the Boise metro region.

Gary G. Michael served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Albertson's, Inc., from February 4, 1991 until his retirement on June 14, 2001.

Michael held many accounting and finance positions with the Company including Controller, Senior Vice President of Finance, and Executive Vice President. He was elected Vice Chairman in 1984. As Vice Chairman, Mr. Michael was responsible for all real estate, design and construction, finance, accounting, legal, human resources, and management information systems. Michael was also responsible for operating the Company's combination food and drug stores from 1977 to 1982 in order to gain operating experience.

Michael was born in Laurel, Montana, where he lived and attended school until graduating from high school in 1958. He attended the University of Idaho on a scholarship and graduated in 1962. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army from 1962-1964. Michael worked for the international accounting firm of Ernst & Young for two years before joining the Albertson's team in 1966 as an accountant.

He is a member of the board of directors of Harrah’s Entertainment, The Clorox Company, Questar, Inc., Boise Cascade Corporation, and IdaCorp; former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco; former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Salt Lake Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco; a member of the Financial Executive Institute; and a Certified Public Accountant.

Michael has been involved in numerous civic and charitable activities. He is past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center; past President of the University of Idaho Foundation; past President of the Boise Public Schools Foundation; and served as a member of the Board of Directors of Food Marketing Institute for many years.
