Evening at Boise Comtemporary Theater - January 31, 2007

Lauren Weedman in BUST
Boise Contemporary Theater was pleased to invite Boise Young Professionals BYP) for an evening of great theater, January 31, 2007. BCT presented BUST by Lauren Weedman.
This former Daily Show correspondent brings her hilarious one-woman show based on her experience as a volunteer advocate in a Southern California prison for women, while trying to find work as an actress in Hollywood, Bust is full of Weedman’s razor-sharp comic observations. A veteran of the stage (this is her sixth one-woman show) she nimbly jumps from character to character, while delivering a narrative about the absurdities of our modern world.

About the Play:
How do you make ends meet in a low-wage job? As an investigative journalist, Barbara Ehrenreich went "undercover" in three different parts of the country, working as a waitress, a maid, and a big-box retail clerk to discover what it's really like to live in low-wage America. Her best-selling book, "Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America," is acclaimed as one of the most important works of social criticism of our time. Playwright Joan Holden has captured Ehrenreich's provocative, funny, and often disturbing experiences in a play that is as powerful as the extraordinary book on which is based.
According to director David Rose, "With the ongoing debate about globalization and its impact on the working class in this country, as well as the current attempts to raise the minimum wage, NICKEL AND DIMED steps back from the politics and takes us into a world that many of us don't recognize, the life of the working poor."
VaC is located at 1419 Grove Street in downtown Boise's Linen District. Doors open at 7pm, the play starts at 8pm. See www.sponprod.com for more information.
This event is closed for registrations.
