BYP in Action!

- October 2006 - Stephen M.R. Covey spoke about his new book, The Speed of Trust
- December 2006 - Boise Mayor Dave Bieter, Mayor Bieter “Unplugged” Q&A and dialogue about the Boise area and the importance of young professionals
- January 2007 - Kai Ryssdal, host of American Public Media’s Marketplace and Marketplace Money, spoke to YPs about local, national and international business news
- February 2007 - “For the Love of Politics” featured six young elected officials from around Idaho to discuss how and why they got involved in politics. Speakers included Representative Brent Crane, Nampa, District 13, Representative Nicole LeFavour, Boise, District 19, Senator John McGee, Caldwell, District 10, Representative James Ruchti, Pocatello, District 29, Mayor Hannah Stauts, City of Stanley, and Commissioner Paul Woods, Ada County Commissioners
- March 2007 - BYP, BSU, and Kickstand hosted the Northwest Venture Championship Reception for the NW Venture Championship business plan competition. Mark Durcan, COO of Micron Technology was the featured speaker
- April 2007 - BYP co-hosted an event with United Way’s D.I.R.T. (Direct Impact Response Team) program to highlight an event on community involvement titled “Get Involved! Your time, talent and treasure, learn how YOU can make a difference.” Ada County Sheriff Gary Raney (discussed Boise’s meth problem and detox center), Jim Owens, Terry Reilly Healthcare for Homeless Boise Clinic, Mitch Minnette, Boys & Girls Club, Courtney Washburn, Idaho Conservation League
- May 2007 - Community College of Southwest Idaho was the featured topic of the May BYP Luncheon. Nancy Vannorsdel, President & CEO of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce and Mike Reynoldson, Government Relations Manager for Micron and spokesperson for Community College Yes! spoke about the importance of a community college system in the Boise Metro area
- June 2007 - Big Brothers Big Sisters was the featured topic of the June BYP Luncheon. Lisa DeDapper, CEO of BBBS Idaho, and other staff members were in attendence to discuss being a mentor for kids in the Boise region. BYP also launched their Mentoring Rountables event to connect YPs to four local mentors. Michelle Edmonds, Theresa McCleod, Doug Park and Brent Boyer led tables of 10 YPs through discussions on professional and leadership development.
- July 2007 - BYP "Casino Royale 007," the first annual charity fundraiser raised $16,434 for the Wishing Star Foundation. Each year BYP will host a charity event to make a significant impact on a local non-profit organization. BYP members voted and chose Wishing Star as the beneficiary of this year's event. Close to 200 people attended this amazing first time event!
BYP continues to grow in membership each day and new events and opportunities are planned on a regular basis. Over 75+ volunteers make up the Leadership Team and six “work-teams” for BYP, which plan and design our events and happenings.
